Youth Led

What do you mean by youth led? 

The Together With Young People youth led project aims to create opportunities for genuine and meaningful conversations with young people around the issues important to them. Through a series of events and workshops young people will develop idea’s themes and messages which are relevant to their lives and that help us understand their aspirations, the challenges they face and support they need in achieving them. The idea is to create engaging opportunities for young people to lead the conversation through workshops then capture those life experiences, insights and ideas creatively to present at a finale event aimed at professionals working with young people.   

What is your vision for the events, is there a format? How will they look/feel? 

A launch event in York sparked the youth led project into life creating a platform for young people to start to imagine what kind of project they would like to create. By presenting young people with inspirational youth speakers in an environment that raises aspirations we created the start of a vision that young people will now shape. The project will culminate in an event that the young people will design and deliver in coproduction with the partnership.   

What do you hope to gain from the youth-led events? 

We hope to listen to young people’s voices and lived experiences, to find out which systems they have encountered and harness their experiences in order to help improved better life outcomes for all young people.   

Who/what organisations will be there or do you hope to see there? 

The pilot project includes a partnership between Inspired Youth, York Travellers Trust, North Yorkshire Youth / Tang Hall community centre and Door 84. The project is supported by the full partnership.   

What is expected of these people/organisations?  

Each partner is facilitating a group of young people through a creative process that will culminate in creative outputs that capture their voices and ideas.
